Motorola Droid goes multitouch in Dolphin Browser

Motorola Droid goes multitouch in Dolphin Browser

Just because the Motorola Droid lacks native multitouch support doesn’t have to ruin your web browsing experience or at least that’s what the Dolphin web browser would like us to believe.  With Dolphin besting Android’s default WebKit browser it seems as though Android fans will be taking a page from the Windows Mobile playbook where Opera has replaced IE Mobile.  It is now officially time to head to the Android Market and download Dolphin my friends, a world of multitouch awaits.

Sony Ericsson Satio Camera vs N86, i8910 HD and N96

Steve Litchfield over at AllAboutSymbian has just published part 2 of his Sony Ericsson Satio review with the main focus being the 12-megapixel camera with Xenon flash.  Defective handsets and suspended sales aside, Litchfield has rated the Satio camera as “having potentially the best camera ever fitted to a phone”.  For some excellent comparison photos and a very extensive breakdown of features and functionality for the Satio we highly recommend taking a peak over at the full review.

For the full review and comparison photo shoot out between the Satio, N86, i8910 HD and N96 head on over to AllAboutSymbian.

LG gets Crystal Clear in Korea

LG gets Crystal Clear in Korea

Also known as the LG-SU960 or KU960, LG’s Crystal Keyboard Phone is now available throughout Korea in KT or SKT stores.  We are all for concept phones getting in touch with reality so hopefully this device is sign of things to come for the manufacturer.  Featuring a crystal-clear keyboard, the phone supports WCDMA and HSPDA connectivity, a 3-inch WQVGA-resolution screen, 4GB of internal memory, 2GB of SDRAM, a microSD slot, 3-megapixel camera, DMB TV Tuner, Bluetooth, USB 2.0 and MP3 support.  No word on whether the KU960 will be making an appearance on soil outside of Korea, but here’s to keeping our fingers crossed.

HTC has big plans for LTE in 2010

Mobile-phone manufacturer HTC is planning an aggressive attack in 2010 on TD-LTE, China’s proprietary standard based on LTE.  According to reports from DigiTimes, HTC will begin launching TD-LTE devices as soon as May 2010 as China’s 4G network is ripe for the taking.  No wonder on whether HTC will begin by releasing a Windows Mobile or Android handset, but we’d clearly prefer the latter unless of course we are looking at a Snapdragon chipset.  It is expected that HTC’s TD-LTE devices will make their debut on China Mobile’s network.

Sony Ericsson Aino buyers proceed with caution

Sony Ericsson Aino buyers proceed with caution

Many analysts have predicted that 2009 will either make or break mobile-phone manufacturer Sony Ericsson.  To cure the red ink from the financials, Sony Ericsson announced the Aino and Satio.  Unfortunately earlier this week Satio sales were suspended after a software glitch was discovered that caused the flagship device to power down when users were trying to access certain applications.  This was only the beginning as other users reported constant freezes, crashes, under-performing batteries and bizarre interface behavior.

Fast forward to Saturday and now we’ve been told by Carphone Warehouse that they are suspending sales of the Sony Ericsson Aino.  The only good news for Sony Ericsson is that only a limited number of Aino’s have sold in the UK so volume of affected devices should be minimal.  Meanwhile here in the U.S., SonyStyle continues to hawk the $600 Aino so we are not sure whether the issues are localized to the UK or whether the news hasn’t traveled West yet.

BlackBerry Pearl 9100 (Stratus) Video Walkthrough

After seeing some live images of the next-generation BlackBerry Pearl 9100 (Stratus) the only logical follow up is a video walkthrough.  Thanks to our favorite BlackBerry ninja, Salomondrin, we are please to bring you the first-ever Pearl 9100 video walkthrough.  It might be a bit early to call the device a winner, but the Pearl 9100 has our vote.  Now if we could only get some release date information and/or pricing we’d really be on a roll.

Telenor has a need for speed with HSPA+ upgrade

Big changes are brewing for Telenor Sweden thanks to an announcement early this morning that the carrier has selected Nokia Siemens Networks to upgrade their 3G network to HSPA+.  Under the agreement, Nokia Siemens Networks will deploy its Flexi Multi Radio Base Station to the entire network along with upgrading the core network.  Besides the actual hardware changes, Nokia Siemens Networks will also provide the network management systems, project management, planning, implementation and optimization services.

The bottom line is that very soon Telenor Sweden will be delivering blazing 21Mbit/s HSPA+ services throughout its network.  Another bonus to the agreement is that Nokia Siemens Networks will expand the functionality and capabilities of the core network, including IP-connectivity and providing a common register for GSM, 3G and LTE access.
