At&t sets the bar with the 1GHz LG eXpo Dec 7th
The battle to be the first US carrier to release a 1GHz powered handset looks to be won by At&t. On December 7th At&t and LG will release the eXpo, the first 1GHz Windows Mobile 6.5 device subsidized by a US carrier. Not only will this be our first 1GHz device, but it will also support the optional integrated pico projector which can snap on the back of the device allowing users to share presentations, slideshows and even online video straight from their phone. Processing speed will not be the only speed barrier At&t is hoping to break with the eXpo, the device has full support for At&t’s upcoming HSPA 7.2 Mbps rollout excepted to launch in Charlotte, Chicago, Dallas, Houston, Los Angeles and Miami by the end of the year.
When it comes to specs the LG eXpo boasts a 3.2-inch touchscreen with a full slide-out QWERTY keyboard, 5.0-megapixel camera with flash, aGPS, support for up to 16GB microSD cards, “Smart Sensor” fingerprint recognition, built in RSS Viewer, Podcast support and Windows Mobile 6.5 Professional. The eXpo will be priced at $199 after $100 mail-in rebate on a 2-year service agreement on December 7th. The optional LG Mobile Projector will be $179.99 and it will also be available in the coming weeks although an exact release date was not announced.
