When Apple holds a press conference you know it’s serious business with hype, speculation and everything else in the progress. We’ve already seen the brand new FaceTime touting iPod touch and we’ve also seen the sleek and sexy iPod Shuffle but now we’re here to tell you about the brand new iPod Nano.

This device, as rumored, will feature a touchscreen form factor with the only hardware buttons being for volume adjustment and hold. Of course its got the 3.5mm headset jack or it wouldn’t be an iPod and the proprietary Apple connector. However, the software, while looking like the iOS found on devices like the iPod touch, iPad and iPhone, is not but instead a seperate operating system designed specifically for the device.

The touchscreen is multitouch and features a 1.5-inch size with a 240 x 240 resoltuion. There won’t be any App Store support which is quite unfortunate considering it’d be interesting to see what developers could come up with on such a small screen.
