Sceptre X270W Monitor Review–The Review That Almost Wasn’t
You might remember, not so long ago, when I discussed the twenty four inch Samsung monitor, but now I’m about to take it one step further thanks to the folks out at Sceptre who, through the Max Borges Agency, shipped me out a Sceptre X270W to review. And this thing just blew me away.
The Sceptre X270W is a twenty seven inch 1080p LCD computer monitor that offers a detachable base and neck for wall mounting, 16:9 wide screen aspect ratio, HDMI port, VGA, DVI and audio input jacks, onboard three watt speakers, and a variety of onscreen controls.
I’ll be honest with you, folks, this review almost never happened. It took roughly three weeks to actually get this thing online. I tried every port it boasted, even a brand-new out of the box HDMI cable and I still couldn’t get it to work. But trying a totally different computer and cable combination managed to get it to work, and the payoff was spectacular. This monitor is absolutely, unquestionably, awe-inspiringly beautiful. It is bigger than my current television, but just barely. Getting it to fit on my desk was a puzzle worthy of Tetris due to the sheer size of it. But what it offers is so much more than any down side it has. It’s huge, it’s unwieldy, it won’t fit easily on your desk. But it will play games, show movies, and display pictures better than just about anything else you’ve got in your house. Normal office functions on this thing make you feel like an evil genius. At least, they did me.
And you too can get this kind of unfathomable monitor beauty on your desktop for four hundred dollars out on Sceptre’s website, which is pretty good, considering all you get in this. The Sceptre X270W is almost too good to not recommend…if you can get it to work.
