For many users having a mobile broadband package is virtually crucial. Sure, their voice packages are useful for making phone calls, but who does that anymore? Instead, they’re checking email, video conferencing, social networking and downloading a whole slew of mobile applications. Due to this high rate of data usage, many users have wondered if 3G is fast enough anymore.

Of course, not everyone is displeased with the speeds of 3G (I know I’m not, for now) but those who are, are flocking to wireless carriers like Sprint. Sprint is the first carrier in the United States to feature a 4G/WiMAX network. As you probably know, these networks run devices like the HTC EVO 4G and Samsung Epic 4G giving both blinding fast mobile broadband speeds.

However, just because WiMAX is fast, doesn’t mean it’s where we’re going to stop as a society. In fact, Samsung has recently come forth during CREATEC 2010 to show of a 330Mbps WiMAX 2 connection. This connection is so fast that it’s capable of streaming full 1080p HD content alongside 3D content with no problems whatsoever.

Samsung says products running on this network will be out sometime late next year but we’ll have to wait and see.

Back in January we gave you the first glimpse of the ExoPC which was thought top be a viable iPad competitor. Well, it seems that thiose of you who were anxiously awaiting the device are going to have to wait a bit longer as it was recently announced that it won’t be coming until this September.

Of course, with Windows 7, an 11.6-inch touch screen, an Atom N450 processor and the ability to play 1080p videos, it may be worth the wait.

Do you guys think this will effect iPad sales? I mean, it has an app store, just like everything else, with a dev kit expected to drop in June but will it be enough to topple the iPad? Let us know what you think.

As 2010 approaches the rumors surrounding Apple’s follow up to the iPhone 3GS, the iPhone 4GS as we’re calling it, are beginning to heat up. Today DigiTimes is reporting that the next-generation iPhone will feature a 5-megapixel sensor, capable of recording full 1080p video at 30 fps. Under normal circumstances we’d just move along to the next iPhone rumor, but DigiTimes was spot on with their prediction that the iPhone 3GS would have a 3.2-megapixel sensor, so their statements have earned quite a bit more credibility as of late. However, this was also the same web site that alleged the iPod Touch, iPod Nano and iPod Classic would all be getting 3.2-megapixel cameras and we all know how that ended up.

If you’d like to dig a bit deeper into the iPhone 4GS, Omnivision is the company that currently manufacturers the 3.2-megapixel sensor in the iPhone 3GS. DigiTimes reported that OmniVision is expected to double the number of image sensors- from about 20 million to about 40 million- that it will supply Apple in 2010. An unnamed source has indicated that a fraction of those 40 million will be the new, 5-megapixel sensors. I’d recommend taking all of this information with a grain of salt for the moment until we find some additional supporting information. For what it’s worth I’ve got my money riding on DigiTimes predictions.
