Motorola Bravo Cell Phone Review–Surprisingly Sweet Smartphone

We’ve got a new phone to talk about today, folks–a fresh one out of the AT&T / Motorola crew, the Motorola Bravo. And like a lot of smartphones today, you’ll find it offering up plenty of great value. It won’t be perfect, of course–precious little even comes close–but I think you’ll like what’s on tap here.

The Motorola Bravo is a PDA style smartphone running Android 2.1. You’ll also get GPS systems, a 3.7 inch touchscreen display, a USB port, microSD card, mobile web, mobile email, text, multimedia and instant messaging capability, 3.5mm headset jack, a variety of features specific to Google like Gmail, Google Talk, Google Voice Search and Google Maps with Navigation, support for the main three messenger tools (AOL IM, Yahoo IM and MSN / Windows Live Messenger), AT&T radio, AT&T Maps / Navigator (which actually charges you $9.99 for turn by turn directions), an MP3 player, a video player, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity, speakerphone, calculator, a three megapixel camera, and a battery that will yield eight hours of talk time on a single charge.

You can see right off, there are a lot of features in here. And any time there are a lot of features in a phone you know it’s going to be worthwhile. There’s plenty of battery life here,  and even does nicely with the controls. There truly isn’t much wrong here; in fact about the only negative thing you can say about this phone comes when you look at where they’ve put the SD card slot. It’s buried back behind the battery, and it’s pretty inconvenient, though this is a small price to pay for an otherwise solid phone.

The Motorola Bravo is exactly that–a solid phone. There’s next to nothing to say about that this phone that might be construed as bad. It’s a nice piece, and should provide most everything you want.

The Good

Lots of great features

Terrific battery life

The Bad

Poorly placed microSD card slot

Score 9 / 10

At&t HTC Pure lacks 3.5 mm headphone jack?

At&t HTC Pure lacks 3.5 mm headphone jack?

Talk about a nice way to ruin a Saturday morning, according to MobilityDigest the At&t Touch Pro2 (HTC Pure) will join the T-mobile version by also not offering a 3.5 mm headphone jack.  It looks like Sprint is bringing the best version to the table in this round of the Touch Pro.  On the plus side at least the At&t version has been confirmed to ship with Windows Mobile 6.5 and TouchFLO 3D 2.1 so while Sprint users wait for their update to roll out, At&t users will be basking in the sunshine.  MobilityDigest also reported that their HTC Pure sports 5 hours of talk time and 15 days of standby, but most importantly they hear the device will launch this Sunday Oct 4th!
