ExoPC tablet is up for pre-order at the Microsoft store

For some reason, that ExoPC was supposed to come out September 30th, and it was delayed until October 15 due to touchscreen problems.

Microsoft’s online store has recently got the Windows-powered ExoPC tablet, and can now pre-order it now.

This tablet has a 11.6-inch display 1366 x 768 pixel multi-touch display, Intel Atom N450 1.66GHz processor, 64GB of flash storage, Windows 7 Home Premium, and a front-facing 1.3 Megapixel camera.

Now, here is the interesting thing. As mentioned before, it is available for pre-order, but unless it somehow ships soon, I don’t think we’ll be seeing it for Christmas. The price is $699, and I am not sure how that will compete with the Galaxy Tab and the iPad.

ExoPC delayed a few weeks, but promises extras

exopcslateinpost01I seem to recall us giving the shipping date for the ExoPC as September 30th, but that date has come and gone.

Unfortunately, it has coming on October 15th, because it has been delayed due to touchscreen delays. You can still pre-order it, and to make up for the tardiness, the company has been generous to offer a free stylus and a three-legged stand.

I believe it is still selling for the price of the 32GB version going for $624 or the 64 GB version for $720. I don’t know if that has changed.

You can pre-order the ExoPC now

ExoPC_Slate_1I’m sure that you probably know about the ExoPC Slate, as we reported it would ship in September, specifically September 30th.

For those that don’t know, the ExoPC Slate is “a Windows 7 tablet that places a customized UI over the OS to make it more touch-friendly”.

Until today, the Slate was shipping on September 30, but it has now been pushed back to October 15. With the delay comes the announcement that both the 32 and 64 GB versions of the Slate will be using SanDisk P4 mini-SSDs that a quite fast (220 MB/s read, 160 MB/s write speeds), that should give both versions about four hours of battery life. The 64 GB version was stripped of it’s GPS unit, however.

Sorry about that push-back date. It is up for pre-order now with the 32GB version going for $624 or the 64 GB version for $720.

ExoPC shipping in September

exopc

Back in January we gave you the first glimpse of the ExoPC which was thought top be a viable iPad competitor. Well, it seems that thiose of you who were anxiously awaiting the device are going to have to wait a bit longer as it was recently announced that it won’t be coming until this September.

Of course, with Windows 7, an 11.6-inch touch screen, an Atom N450 processor and the ability to play 1080p videos, it may be worth the wait.

Do you guys think this will effect iPad sales? I mean, it has an app store, just like everything else, with a dev kit expected to drop in June but will it be enough to topple the iPad? Let us know what you think.
