Let Facebook Places Pimp your Room At Palms Las Vegas

Let Facebook Places Pimp your Room At Palms Las Vegas

There’s no questioning my love for Las Vegas, the Sin City. A few days spent in the smoke filled casinos and well stocked clubs is the perfect way to get away from the daily grind. In an effort to promote the casino while at the same time capture the Facebook market, the Palms Casino in Las Vegas is offering some very special deals via Facebook Places.

Here’s the rub: Check into the Palms Casino from now until December 29, 2010 and your existing reservation will be extended for a night ($59 to $189 value) or if you can’t stay an extra day they’ll upgrade your room ($89 to $399 value). How’s that for a little Nevada hospitality?

facebook places palms dealHow to claim the deal? Simple. Just make your reservation to the Palms and when you show up look at Places in your Facebook application. If your device does not support places then just visit touch.facebook.com from your mobile browser. In the Nearby Deals you’ll see the screen above. Now who wants to hit the craps table?

Augmented Reality iPhone app for your next trip to Vegas

340x_vegas-app1I probably visit Vegas twice every year for CES and CTIA, and it would have been helpful to have this Augmented Reality App for the iPhone.

This app has “interactive details on rival hotels, casinos, and other points of interest”. So, with a simple pointing an iPhone, you’ll get some terrific information about what makes Vegas Vegas.

You can get it on iTunes, right before your trip to Sin City.

Motorola’s big CES 2010 device announcements

Motorola's big CES 2010 device announcements

Rumor has it that Motorola will be making two device announcements on January 6 at CES 2010 in Las Vegas, Nevada.  The first device is allegedly landing on At&t, with the most likely prediction being the Motorola Motus (At&t’s version of the Motorola CLIQ).  The second device is expected to launch on Verizon Wireless and will most likely be the Motorola Calgary (OLED screen, soft keyboard).  Of course all of this information is open to interpretation, but Global Equities Research analyst Trip Chowdhry has plenty of reasons to believe it will happen.

In other Motorola news, the manufacturer is reported to be releasing another high-end Android smartphone in the Chinese Mobile Market.  After announcing the Motorola XT800, Motorola MT710 and Motorola XT701 last week, the Motorola Shadow (Mirage) is now expected to follow.  The Motorola Shadow, also known as the Motorola Mirage, features a 4.3-inch WVGA resolution display making it the Android equivalent of the HTC HD2.  The device is rumored to feature a HDMI video out, 8-megapixel camera, 1080P HD video playback and measure just 9mm thick.
