Windows Phone 7 Goes Gold, Gets Sent to Hardware Manufacturers

Microsoft has had some trouble in their mobiel sector with Windows Mobile. However, with the forthcoming release of Windows Phone 7 the company is looking to change all of that. Featuring a completely revampd user interface that is touch friendly and deep integration with both social networks and popular Microsoft services like Xbox Live, Windows Phone 7 is already shaping up to be a winner and it isn’t even out yet.
Luckily, the platform’s release date is growing ever closer as it was announced today that Windows Phone 7 has officially gone gold. This means that Microsoft’s engineers are completely done working on the platform (for now) and have sent it out to hardware manufacturers who will then install it on devices and ship them to market.
We’ll have to wait and see which phone hits the market first and for what carrier. Anyone out there looking to make the switch to Windows Phone 7 on day one?

Windows Phone 7 Powered LG E900 And Android Powered LG E720 Smart Phones Recieve FCC Approval Says E900 is AT&T Friendly
LG has been one of the world’s leading manufacturers for some time now but that doesn’t mean they are going to slow up anytime soon. In fact, thanks to a partnership with Microsoft, LG will be releasing a whole slew of handsets that runs the forthcoming Windows Phone 7 platform.
We’ve seen several prototype devices from LG that have been used to show off Microsoft’s new platform and today two such devices have hit the FCC: the LG E900 and LG E720.
The LG900 features a 1GHz Snapdragon processor, 802.11 b/g/n WiFI, Bluetooth and GSM 850/1900 band leading us to believe the device will eventually make its way to AT&T. The LG E720, on the other side, will run Google’s Android and feature EDGE connectivity which is just a sliver of its specs revealed by the FCC with more presumably coming at a later date.

LG E900 Windows Phone 7 Powered Touchscreen Smartphone Gets Pictured, Specs Revealed

Android and iOS have without a doubt been generating the most buzz within the mobile industry but that does not mean they are the only platforms out there. In fact, Research in Motion is chugging along quite nicely with their recently released BlackBerry 6 mobile operating system and Microsoft has a hefty project cooking to the tune of Windows Phone 7.
Many manufactures have already signed on to develop phones for the Windows Phone 7 platform, one of them being LG. We’ve seen several LG devices in the past but few of them have actually been officially talked about. However, one device from the company commonly known as the LG E900 had appeared on video – an extremely blurry video, but a video nonetheless.
Luckily, more pictures have leaked today of the E900 giving us a much closer and clearer look at the handset, as you can see above. Even better, we have some specs for the device which includes a 1GHz Snapdragon processor, 3.7-inch capacitive touchscreen display, a hardware camera button, 3.5mm headphone jack, a USB port light and proximity sensors.
Pretty standard fare but it’s nice to see that these hardware manufacturers are looking to give as much love to Windows Phone 7 as they do to Android.

LG Optimus Pad Tablet Computer Gets Spotted

The tablet buzz is hot and just about every hardware manufacturer in the book is looking to get down. LG, in particular, has been rumored to be launching a tablet in the past but virtually nothing has been made known of their offerings. Today, however, the above snapshot was taken during a quick LG press conference to unveil the new tablet.
From what we can make out it features a very thin sleek design and a large touchscreen – most likely 7-inches to compete with the forthcoming Samsung Galaxy Tab. Other than that we unfortunately don’t have much information about the LG Optimus Pad but the company assures us that we will know much more come IFA which starts tomorrow.
Anyone out there set on an Android tablet yet? The Samsung Galaxy Tab is looking good to me but if another tablet features the same specs with more, I might have to change my opinion.

LG E720 leaks out over the weekend
I have been hearing a lot about the Samsung Galaxy Tab, and it could be the coolest thing to happen to an Android device for a while. There has been a leak of a mobile device that also runs Android, but we don’t have much on this.
This is the LG E720, and it appeared on a Polish site last weekend, and it has a 3.2 inch display. We believe that it has an MSM 7227 core as well as a 5 Megapixel camera.
There has been a rumor that this could be running Android 3.0 by the end of this year, if it would come out.
We’ll have more on this as it develops.

LG LX-290 Cell Phone Review–Covers Are Poor Judges
Today we’ve got an LG cell phone to take a look at, and though it looks pretty simple, it’s actually hiding a lot of exciting features that’ll really make you think twice. It’s the LG LX-290, and it’s going to show you what happens to people who judge books by their cover.
The LG LX-290 is a slider-style cell phone with conference call capability, voice recorder, speakerphone, Bluetooth connectivity, a phone book with a six hundred record capacity, mobile web, mobile email, Java application capability, several Sprint PCS specific features like Sprint TV, PCS Video Mail, PCS Business Connection and plenty more. You’ll also get text and instant messaging capability, a 1.3 megapixel camera with 15x digital zoom, GPS, alarm clock, calendar, basic calculator, and a battery that yields up to five hours of talk time on a single charge.
Oh, sure, going in I thought like probably a lot of you did when you saw the picture of that simple slider phone–that it wasn’t going to have anything worth talking about. But as it turns out, there was plenty here. Sure, that camera isn’t great on resolution but it’s one of the longest ranged zooms I’ve seen on a cell phone camera. The Java applications and Sprint applications boost the utility on this phone through the roof.
There’s lots to like in the LG LX-290–it’s not without its problems, but it’s still got more than enough to make it a phone well worth looking at.
The Good
Great camera zoom
Lots of utility
The Bad
Low resolution camera
Merely mediocre battery life
Score 7 / 10

LG & LG e-readers & e-readers 27 Aug 2010 10:57 am
LG working on new versions of e-readers
LG is recently announced their plans for e-readers with an SEC filing. Apparently, they plan to make larger, flexible e-paper screens and color e-paper in a smaller size by the end of this year.
The biggest setback with color e-readers is their problem with battery life and refresh rates, which the company is working on one at 9.7 inches.
Their big monochromatic e-reader is huge at 19-inches, which would be the size of a newspaper, and it would also have a charging problem, probably.
There is always the Amazon Kindle 3.

LG C900 available on September 28th?
We have previously reported that the LG C900 will be running Windows, and that it might be called the LG Pacific.
We still really don’t know much about the slide-out QWERTY keyboard device, but it could go down in history as the first Windows Phone 7 device.
Now, that would be pretty cool, wouldn’t it? I mean, somebody’s got to be the first to get WP7.
The rumor has it that the LG C900 could be out as quickly as September 28th. We at lease know about Q4 availability, and should appear on AT&T.

Windows Phone 7 Powered LG C900 To Be Dubbed The LG Pacific?

Windows Phone 7’s expected October release is quickly approaching. Due to its release date being so soon, it’s about time some noise is made about the hardware that will be pushing the platform into consumers hands.
If you’ll remember, not too long ago we told you about the LG C900 – a touchscreen touting Windows Phone 7 device with a slide-out QWERTY keyboard. Well, in terms of official announcements we have virtually nothing but what we do have is an expected relesae date from a Bluetooth SIG filing that says the device will be out on September 28th. While this goes against the previously expected October release for the platform, it lines up somewhat nicely and isn’t too far off.
However, seeing how the C900 is likely the device’s model number and not the actual name, it’s expected that LG and whatever carrier it is made available for will come up with something much catchier. Today, it seems that some rumors are making the rounds that suggest the LG C900 will actually be dubbed the LG Pacific.
While this isn’t the most exciting announcement, it will give us another thing to look for when rummaging through filings and what not.
