Unlocking the Palm Pre’s TI OMAP3430 600MHz Processor
The TI OMAP3430 processor powering the Palm Pre is limited to 500MHz despite the processor being rated at 600MHz by Texas Instruments because of battery concerns . Over at webOS internals they’ve put together a group of patches that promise to improve the speed of the Palm Pre and save battery life at the same time.
Before you even consider exploring the power of the Palm Pre’s TI OMAP 3430 processor please realize that any unauthorized modification of your device or source code could permanently damage your phone (i.e. brick). Now that you have been warned there are four patches available for your device: Powersave Smartreflex 500MHz, Powersave Smartreflex 600MHz, Powersave CPU Scaling 500MHz, and Powersave CPU Scaling 600MHz.
If you are up to the task head on over to PreCentral and get to patching.
