Philips Fidelio DS8550 dock for iPod, iPhone, and iPad

philips-fidelio-ds8550-ifa-07-smPhilips is certainly in no short supply of cool mobile devices with the GoGear Connect revealed the other day, which could easily compete with the new iPod Touch.

However, they have created a dock for the iPod Touch and other Apple products with the Fidelio DS8550, which looks like some sort of sequel to the Fidelio DS9000.

There isn’t really much to be said about a speaker dock, other than it can do sound. It can talk to the dock via Bluetooth, and has a battery power as well.

I don’t have a price or availability date for it, but I wouldn’t mind one.

Philips GoGear Aria MP3 Player Review–Nice Package and Great Sound

So the folks out at Geeks.com sent me an item in their line of cheap media players, and you can pretty much forget about the whole “get what you pay for” thing here, because you’ll get a whole lot more than that.  I’m talking about the Philips GoGear Aria MP3 player, and it’s frankly amazing.

The Philips GoGear Aria MP3 player comes with eight gigs of storage space, a USB cord and a pair of earbuds.  And admittedly, it’s pretty simple, but it comes with incredible versatility in that tiny package.  It can handle ebooks, play FM radio, MP3s (naturally), video, and still pictures.

First off, loads of praise for this one.  Lots of room for storage, plenty of different media covered here–it’s really an all-in-one package.  And the sound quality is a huge surprise.  The included earbuds are uncomfortable (no padding on these at all) but they produce incredible sound.

But there are some down sides here–uncomfortable earbuds, like I said, are the start.  And I had a rough time getting video to work on this thing–it only takes a specific set of formats, some of which I didn’t even have when I first got testing.

And this is a problem, or at least it would be until you consider that Geeks.com is selling these at thirty five dollars each.  Now it’s just a fantastic deal.  You’re getting an MP3 player that can handle audio books and store eight gigs of material for less than the cost of an average Chinese dinner buffet for four.  How can that not be good?

So if you’re out for an MP3 player and don’t want to drop the cash on an iPod, consider the Philips GoGear Aria.
